My grandmother used to have this hanging up in her bedroom. How it rings true to me now.
I have to live with myself, and so
I want to be fit for myself to know.
I don't want to stand at the setting sun,
And hate myself for the things I've done.
I shall pass through this world but once.
Any good, therefore, that I can do or any kindness
that I can show to any human being, let me do it now.
Let me not defer nor neglect it, for I shall not pass this
way again.
